How do we find the right psychologist for us?

Utilise our Get Matched tool to find a psychologist with experience in relationship counselling who aligns with your needs as a couple. Couples therapy can help with communication issues, conflict resolution, rebuilding trust, navigating life changes, and strengthening your connection.

What is couples therapy, and how can it help us?

Couples therapy helps partners strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and address challenges. Guided by an experienced and trained psychologist couples counselling provides you with tools to resolve conflicts, rebuild trust, and deepen your connection. Whether you're facing specific issues or want to grow together, couples therapy offers tailored support for your unique relationship needs.

What happens during a My Mirror couple's therapy session?

A session typically involves open discussions led by a psychologist in a safe, supportive space. You'll explore relationship dynamics, identify challenges, and develop strategies to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and deepen your connection.

Why are My Mirror couples therapy sessions 80 minutes?

Couples therapy sessions are 80 minutes long to allow enough time for both partners to share their perspectives, work through relationship challenges, and develop effective communication strategies with the psychologist. This extended session length ensures meaningful progress without feeling rushed.

Can we attend sessions from different locations?

Yes! My Mirror allows couples to join their session from separate devices and locations, making it easy to connect no matter where you are.

Can I still see my current psychologist for individual sessions?

Yes! You can continue seeing your current psychologist for individual sessions. However, for couples therapy, you'll need to book with a different psychologist, as the same psychologist cannot provide both individual and couples sessions for the same client.

Will the therapist take sides?

No, your psychologist will remain neutral and focus on supporting the relationship as a whole. Their goal is to help both partners feel heard, understood, and empowered to work together effectively.

Is couples therapy suitable for LGBTQIA+ relationships or those with specific needs?

Absolutely! We proudly support all relationship types, with a strong focus on LGBTQIA+ couples. Our psychologists provide a safe, affirming, and inclusive space tailored to your unique experiences. You can also choose a couples counsellor who aligns with your specific needs, and can get matched with someone who is culturally sensitive.
