How can a psychologist help build resilience?
Psychologists play a vital role in fostering resilience by encouraging you to be more present (focused on the here and now, not stuck dwelling on the past or too focused on future “what ifs”), fostering positive and meaningful behavioural changes, educating you about how the brain functions and how to use this knowledge, as well as nurturing acceptance and self-compassion. They can provide you with the tools and strategies needed to cultivate resilience and thrive in the face of adversity.

During a solution-focused therapy session, the therapist and client work together to identify goals, strengths, and resources. The therapist helps the client explore solutions and develop strategies to achieve their goals. Sessions focus on the present and future rather than dwelling on past problems.
Yes, solution-focused therapy can be seamlessly integrated as a complement to longer-form therapy. It can serve as a valuable check-in between sessions, providing focused support and progress tracking to supplement ongoing therapeutic work.
Solution-focused therapy may be right for you if you prefer a short-term, goal-oriented approach that focuses on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It can also be beneficial if you're looking for practical strategies to address specific challenges.
